PHILADELPHIA - Head coach Nikki Franke and the Temple women's fencing team have released the information form for the 33rd Annual Temple Fencing Open. The two-day tournament, considered to be the largest of its kind in the nation, will be held October 27-28 inside the confines of Temple University's McGonigle Hall. The form is available online by clicking the link above or by going "Additional Links" on the top-right corner of the Temple Fencing homepage.
The Temple Open is an individual tournament for collegiate fencers that tends to draw an estimated 600 athletes from over 30 schools. In addition, it is used as the starting point to the season for many schools on the East Coast.
Senior Mikayla Varadi and junior Epiphany Georges led the Owls in foil at the event last season, as they tied for third place overall. Sophomore Chantal Montrose was Temple's top finisher in epee with an 11th place finish, while recent graduate Kamali Thompson took third place in sabre.
