PENNSAUKEN, NJ - The Temple men's Varsity 4 placed fourth in its semifinal heat Friday morning on the Cooper River, just missing out on qualifying for Saturday's Grand Final of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships. The Owls will compete in the Petite Final on Saturday at 8:55 a.m.
Temple's crew, comprised of junior Matt Sbei (coxswain), senior Jimmy Barr (stroke), senior Aaron Heyde (3-seat), junior Mike Mirabella (2-seat) and senior Brian Reehill (bow), finished its race in 7:23.153. Washington won with a time of 7:10.890,followed by California (7:16.081) and Northeastern (7:19.716). Boston U placed fifth with a time of 7:31.919 with Yale placing sixth (7:35.210).
Temple will row from lane four Saturday.
