Damian Myers Voted To Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Track & Field Team

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University junior Damian Myers (Windsor, Pa./Eastern York) has been selected to the 10-member Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Track & Field Team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better.

Myers posted an impressive grade point average of 3.54 as a telecommunications and mass media major, which helped him to a spot on the Atlantic 10's Academic All-Conference Team,

In addition to his performance in the classroom, Myers was an essential piece in the Owls' success on the track this past outdoor season. At the A-10 Championships, he paced Temple to the conference title in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:12.34.

With that being the high point of the season, the Windsor, Pa. native also helped the Owls 4x400 squad earn an IC4A qualifying time of 3:17.17 and second place finish at Maryland Invite. At the same meet, Myers placed second overall in the 200 meter dash (21.87) before leading the Owls to another IC4A qualifying time of 3:17.16 in the 4x400 relay event at the Penn Relays.

Joining Myers on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Track & Field Team are Dennis Conn and Michael Garrity of Widener, Tim Schoch and Andrew Sturner of Haverford, Brian Fulton of Penn, Samuel McEntee of Villanova, Travis Pitts of Delaware Valley, and Tim VanLiew of Rutgers Camden. Taylor Purdue of Rowan was named the All-Area Performer of the Year
