Owls' Arms Return From Successful Summer

PHILADELPHIA— While classes were out of session, Temple had several of its baseball players playing for summer wooden bat leagues. Among them, the Owls' pitching staff proved to be the most impressive and showed added potential for the 2013 season.
Junior right-handed pitcher Matt Hockenberry put together a solid summer pitching for the Geneva Red Wings of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) posting a perfect 4-0 record with a 2.84 ERA and notching 30 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched. He was named to the All-Star team, as well as being recognized by Perfect Game as the 11th best prospect in the league.
Sophomore Eric Peterson, another righty for the Owls, helped the Southhampton Breakers of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL) advance to the championship series posting a record of 2-2 with a 3.88 ERA while punching out 74 batters over 48.2 innings pitched. He also notched a save. He was recognized by Perfect Game and Baseball America as the 4th and 5th best prospect respectively.
Along with his brother Eric, sophomore Patrick Peterson—a left-hander— pitched for the Southhampton Breakers of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL), and was recognized by Perfect Game and Baseball America as the leagues' 2nd and 4th top prospect respectively. Patrick went 2-2 while posting a 3.21 ERA over 33.2 innings pitched. He recorded 48 strikeouts and yielded only 8 walks.
Right-handed sophomore Adam Dian led the Prospect League in saves with 13, and was named to the All-Star team. He posted an overall record of 1-2 with a 3.41 ERA, and racked up an impressive 56 strikeouts over his 30 innings pitched, and was named the leagues' 22nd best prospect by Perfect Game.
