Women's Soccer Set to Host Louisville and Cincinnati for Final Home Games

AMBLER, Pa. – Women's soccer is getting set to host Louisville for an American Athletic Conference match with a 3:00 p.m. kickoff at the Ambler Sports Complex today. The Owls will then host Cincinnati on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day for their annual cancer game.  The Owls are coming off a 3-1 loss to UConn last Friday. Live stats and a stream will be available for both games by clicking the links above.
TEMPLE NOTES...
After finishing non-conference with a 5-3-1 record, the Owls started conference play with a 2-0 win at home against Houston. The six wins this season is the most in a season since the 2010 squad ended the season with six victories.Â
Goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff has recorded seven shutouts on the season, playing every single minute for the Owls. She has a goals allowed average of 0.91 with 68 saves and a .840 save percentage. She has been on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll two times for her strong play early in the season.
The Owls have featured a balanced scoring attack, with nine different players scoring goals and 13 players recording points. Ingrid Mello and Erin Lafferty lead the team with three goals each, and Alyssa Kirk and Kelly Farrell each have two goals as well. Farrell leads the team in points with seven.
Missing the first four games and another game due to injuries, Paige Rachel has started all nine games and scored her first points against Houston with an insurance goal and the lone assist on the game-winning goal.
The Owls are 4-3-1 on the road and 2-4 at home.
Of the 24 players that have participated in a game this season for the Owls, only three are upperclassmen
LOUISVILLE NOTES...
The Cardinals finished non-conference play with a 4-3-1 record. They lost their first American Athletic Conference game to UCF 1-0 last Sunday. This game is the first of three consecutive road games to end their regular season for the Cardinals.
Louisville received votes in the latest NSCAA/ Continental Tire Rankings. They are ranked third in the NSCAA Northeast Regional Rankings.
The Cardinals are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
Outscoring opponents 35-21 and average 16.5 shots (8.6 on goal) a game.
Charlyn Corral leads the team in points with 23 and has scored eight goals. Angelika Uremovich leads the team in goals with nine and has two assists as well. Erin Yenney is the third player on the team to have 10+ points with four goals and three assists. A total of 12 Cardinals players have scored.
Goalkeeper Paige Brown has played all but 17 minutes this season for the Cardinals. Brown has allowed 21 goals for a goals allowed average of 1.47. She has recorded 49 saves, stopping 70% of shots against her, and has four shutouts.
CINCINNATI NOTES...
The Bearcats finished non-conference play with a 4-6-0 record. They have started conference play with a 3-2-1 record. After losing six of their seven games and being outscored 18-7, Cincinnati has gone 6-2-1, outscoring opponents by six goals during that span. They are currently fourth in the conference standings.
Cincinnati averages 12.4 shots and allows opponents an average of 13.4.
Jae Atkinson leads the team in points with 11, scoring three goals with five assists. Emily Elsbrock leads the team in goals with four. A total of eight players have at least two goals, with two others also with one goal. Kayla Utley is the only player to start all 16 games.
Goalkeeper Natalie Smith has started two-thirds of the season, with Kristina Utley starting the other third. Smith has allowed 16 goals for an average of 1.29. She has recorded 52 saves for a .765 save percentage for a 6-5-1 record for two shutouts. Utley has allowed 12 goals for a 3.0 average. She has made 13 saves for a .520 save percentage for a 1-3-0 record.
