Men's Tennis Players Active on Day Three of USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championship

BLACKSBURG, Va. – All eight of Temple's men's tennis players were active on day three of the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, held at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center Oct. 17-22. The Owls had four doubles team competing and every member playing in singles.
In singles play, Kristian Marquart got underway in the main draw round of 32 with a match against Troy Beneck of Delaware, falling 6-2, 6-2. Santiago Canete was also playing in the second round of the main draw. Canete fell to Radford's Nick Sayer, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, to end his attempt at a title
Six TU players competed in the consolation bracket on Saturday. Hicham Belkssir, Nicolas Paulus, Maros Januvka, Vineet Naran, Hernan Vasconez and Sam Rundle were all active in the consolation round. Paulus, Januvka and Vasconez each won their final matches of the fall.
Paulus defeated Evan Ward of Morgan State, 7-6(3), 6-7(3), 6-3. Januvka took a 6-4, 6-2 decision against Ward's teammate Dmitriy Borodkin and Vasconez got past Chris Young of Penn State, 6-4, 7-5.
Every Temple doubles team was in action on Saturday, but all four failed to advance.

Today's outcomes marked the final matches of the fall for the Owls. The men's team begins play in the 2014 with competition at the VCU 4+1 Invite on January 17-19.
