Batey and Doms Continue to See Success at USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Seniors Jordan Batey and Alicia Doms continued their run for a doubles title on Saturday at the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, advancing to the round of 16. In addition, Doms moved into the second round of the singles main draw with a victory in her opening match. The tournament is being held at the University of Virginia's Snyder Tennis Courts from Oct. 18-22.
Batey and Doms teamed up to defeat Cindy Chala and Yukako Noi of VCU, 8-5, in the round of 32 on Saturday morning. The duo will take on fourth-seeded Ilinca Stoica and Kelly Williford of Virginia Tech on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. for a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
Doms was also successful in singles play, defeating Liberty's Rebekah Jenkins 6-3, 6-2 in the opening round of the main draw. The team captain drew a tough opponent in the second round and will take on Chala, the top-seeded singles player and #50 player in the country at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Batey was also active in singles play. She dropped her opening round match against Olga Bredikhina of Maryland, 6-4, 6-2, and will take on Norfolk State's Liza Gordeeva at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday in the consolation draw of main singles.
