10.20.13 | Women's Tennis
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Seniors Jordan Batey and Alicia Doms entered Sunday play with a chance at advancing to the doubles quarterfinals at the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championship. In addition, Doms was still competing for a title in the singles main draw. The tournament is being held at the University of Virginia's Snyder Tennis Courts from Oct. 18-22.
Batey and Doms drew fourth-seeded Ilinca Stoica and Kelly Williford of Virginia Tech on Sunday, dropping an 8-5 decision to end their hunt for a title.
Doms took on Cindy Chala of VCU, the top-seeded singles player and No. 50 player in the country, in the second round of singles play. Chala was too much for the team captain, ending her run with a 6-1, 6-3 decision.
Batey was the other TU player in action on Sunday, playing a consolation singles match. She was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Liza Gordeeva of Norfolk State to end her fall on a strong note.

Today's play concludes the fall season for the Owls women's tennis team. They will start up the 2014 spring season with a January 25 match at Princeton.
