Women's Tennis Faces Bucknell and Lehigh at Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Temple women's tennis team completed play at the Lehigh Invitational on Sunday, October 6, taking on Bucknell and Lehigh in singles play. The Owls were very successful on the day, winning 10 of 12 matches.
Freshman Anais Nussaume remained undefeated on the weekend, earning a come-from-behind victory at number three over Lydia Colvin, 5-6(2), 6-4, 10-8. Minami Okajima also stayed unbeaten with her 6-1, 6-0 decision against Melissa Parks at No. 4. Also picking up wins were Rebecca Breland at the fifth flight and Carly Bohman at the sixth. Breland was a 6-5(5), 6-4 winner over Michele Urbinati and Bohman defeated Jorie Fox, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.
Against Lehigh, the Owls swept all six singles matches. Yana Mavrina had the most challenging match, going to a super tiebreak but ultimately winning 6-2, 3-6, 10-5, over Abby Farrell at No. 1. The final five matches were all decided in straight sets for the Cherry & White.
TU closes out the fall with competition at the 2013 USTA/ITA Division I Women's Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by the University of Virginia on October 18-22.
