Men’s Crew Fares Well Over Busy Weekend

Camden, N.J.- Temple men's crew conclude their fall season with two Regattas this weekend. The Owls participated in both the Frostbite Regatta and the Braxton Memorial Regatta on the Cooper River.
The Owls had success on Saturday, November 9th at the Frostbite Regatta, entering over 5 boats into the race and securing three 1st place finishes.
In the college freshman/novice 4 (flight 1) Temple finished ahead of SUNY, Lafayette and TCNJ with a time of 7:20.28. The men's 4+ boat finished 1st, ahead of Loyola, TCNJ, Stony Brook and Lafayette B in flight 2 and 2nd overall with a time of 6:52.46. The Temple A junior varsity 8 boat, finished flight 1 of the college junior varsity 8+ in 1st, as well, with a time of 6:16.05. Temple B, finished thirty-one seconds behind their teammates, earning a 9th place finish overall.
To finish the day, The Owls entered the Varsity 8+ final. The boat came in 2nd place overall, behind Drexel University, with a time of 6:02.04.
"Drexel edged Temple by less than a second!" explains head coach Gavin White, "Temple led by as much as 3/4 of a length before being overtaken in the last ten strokes."
The Owls headed back to the cooper river on Sunday, November 10th for the 40th Annual Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta.
To Begin the day the Owls Varsity 8 boat, comprised of Dante Romeo (coxswain), Tom Robbins (seat-8), Charles Anderson (seat-7), Brian Reifsnyder (seat-6), Dan Sipzner (seat-5), Fergal Barry (seat-4), Evan Hammond (seat-3), Joshua Kuzo (seat-2) and Gary Wielgus (bow), finished in 2nd place with a time of 5:54.96.
The Junior varsity 8 boat followed suit in their respective race, also finishing 2nd with a time of 6:07.87. The Temple boat was comprised of Truman Levine (coxswain), Connor Murphy (seat-8), Pat Woodruff (seat-7), Zephyr Dippel (seat-6), Stephen Lindeman (seat-5), Hunter Devine (seat-4), Vincent DiPentino (seat-3)and Mario DiCarlo (seat-2).
Temple men's rowing ended the weekend with an impressive showing in the frosh/novice 8+, flight 2 race at 11:18pm. The Owls finish 2nd overall wirh a time of 6:45.93. The boat was comprised of Kevin Funck (coxswain), G. Dwyer (seat-8), A.Guy (seat-7), Dylon McCreavy (seat-6), S.Long (seat-5), Robert Byrne (seat-4), Vittorio Dipentino (seat-3), T.Kuhar (seat-2) and J.Higgins (bow).
