The Owls then take a 10-day break for final exams before heading to Montana on Saturday, Dec. 14 for a 7 p.m. MT (9 p.m. ET) game at Dahlberg Arena.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls, under sixth-year head coach Tonya Cardoza, stand 4-1 on the season after an 81-57 win over Oakland on Nov. 30.
After five games, the five Owl starters are averaging double-figure scoring. Freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Va.) is the Owls' leading scorer with 15.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Junior Tyonna Williams (Fort Washington, Md.) follows with 14.4 ppg and 5.6 apg, while senior Natasha Thames (Port Huron, Mich.) adds 11.6 points and a team-best 7.4 rpg. Senior Shi-Heria Shipp (Salisbury, N.C.) also adds 11.6 ppg and 6.6 rpg, while sophomore Erica Covile (Canton, Mich.) rounds out the double-figure scorers with 10.0 ppg and 5.6 rpg.
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
The Hawks, under the guidance of 12th-year head coach Cindy Griffin, stand 6-1 on the season after an 84-69 win at Quinnipiac on Dec. 1.
Sophomore Sarah Fairbanks is the top Hawk scorer with 17.1 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Senior Erin Shields follows with 16.0 ppg and 2.3 rpg, while junior Natasha Cloud and senior Ilze Gotfrida add 9.9 ppg each.
SERIES VS. HAWKS
Temple and Saint Joseph's are meeting for the 75th time since the city rivals began playing each other in 1938. Although the Hawks lead the all-time series 40-34, the Owls have won 19 of the last 21 games, including a string of 13 consecutive wins.
Many of the recent games have proven very competitive, with the last six games decided by an average of 6.6 points.
Last season at Hagan Arena, Saint Joseph's out-scored Temple 10-2 in overtime en route to 49-41 win. The game was neck-and-neck for nearly the entire second half, but after scoring the first bucket in overtime, Temple was unable to generate any more offense.
The defeat broke a long streak for the Owls, which had won the last 13 straight against the Hawks.
Natasha Thames recorded her second double-double of the season to lead the Owls, adding a game-high 14 rebounds and a game-high 15 points. Victoria Macaulay pulled down 13 boards and blocked five shots.
