Covile Named Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Temple sophomore Erica Covile (Detroit, Mich.) has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week.

The guard was also named the OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week.

In the only game on the week, Covile led the Owls with 14 points in their road 63-56 win at Memphis in the American Athletic Conference opener on Dec. 29. She shot 6-of-8 from the field and grabbed five rebounds in 29 minutes of work.

A starter in all 11 games, Covile averages 10.3 ppg and 5.8 rpg. She shoots 48 percent from the field 58 percent from the line.

Temple (7-4, 1-0) returns home to McGonigle Hall on New Year's Day to host No. 7 Louisville (13-1, 1-0) at 4 p.m. in the American Athletic Conference home opener. For ticket information, call 215-204-8499
