PHILADELPHIA – After opening the season 1-3 at the Phoenix Clash Tournament in Elon, N.C. last weekend, the Temple softball team continues its challenging schedule with play at the Citrus Classic in Kissimmee, Fla. on March 1-3. The Owls will face two nationally ranked teams in their five-game weekend.

Up first is 15th-ranked Louisville, which carries a 12-2 record into the tournament, including a six-game winning streak. After TU faces the Cardinals at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, March 1, the squad squares off against 2-2 Fairfield later that day.

On Saturday, March 2, the Cherry & White go up against the only team it will face with a losing record, Georgetown (1-10), before seeing their second ranked team of the weekend in #10 Oregon (13-3). The Ducks are also riding a six-game win streak into the weekend.

Temple closes out the tournament with a Sunday game against Georgia Tech, a team receiving votes in national polls. The Yellow Jackets are 10-7 coming into the Florida event.

Live stats for both the Louisville and Georgia Tech games will be available at www.OwlSports.com.

TU is led by the offense of sophomore Lacey McKeon and junior Sarah Prezioso with .385 and .333 averages, respectively. McKeon has scored a team-high five runs, while Prezioso has knocked in a squad-best eight runs. With her next hit, the shortstop will reach 100 in her career.

On the mound, freshman Jessica Tolmie has the Owls' lone win. The rookie tossed a 5.0 inning complete game, allowing just two hits, striking out four and walking three in a 12-2 victory over Saint Peter's.
