Men's Tennis Slide Continues with 5-2 Loss at Duquesne

HARMAR, Pa. – The Temple men's tennis team continues to struggle, dropping a 5-2 decision at Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne on Wednesday afternoon. The match was closer than the score indicated, however, with four singles matches going three sets.
In doubles play, the Dukes took the point quickly with wins at the first and second flights.
Freshman Nicolas Paulus got Temple on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Corey Robinson at No. 3 singles. The host team responded, however, with three-straight wins to secure the match. Two of those came down to a third set. With the match score 2-1, freshman Hicham Belkssir took the first set against Max Rubin at the fifth flight, 6-4, but Rubin came back to win the final two, 6-4, 6-1, for the win. Freshman Santiago Canete forced a third set at No. 4 after dropping the first, but eventually lost 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
Sophomore Kristian Marquart scored TU's other point with a come from behind 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 win over Pete Carpenter at No. 2.
The Owls are 2-8 and will travel Xavier for a 7 p.m. match against the Musketeers.
