ARLINGTON, Va. –
Temple, now 9-11 overall and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, travels to the nation's capital, to play their first conference road games this weekend against George Washington  at Barcroft Park.  The Owls are coming off back-to-back wins against Saint Joseph's and Lehigh at home.

Sophomore Patrick Peterson will be starting for the Owls on Friday afternoon.  The south paw will be looking to improve the team's road record.  The left-hander is 1-3 this season after making five starts.  He has an overall ERA of 5.33 as he is coming off a rough outing in which he allowed six runs in 5.1 innings against Saint Joseph's last weekend.  Peterson has pitched five plus innings in his last four starts.

Junior Henry Knabe is leading the team in batting average (.414) which ranks him 37th in the nation.  He is currently on a 12-game hitting streak, while sophomore Nick Lustrino has reached base safely in every game this season (20).  The sophomore is second on the team in hitting with a .356 batting average and has recorded six multi-hit games this season.

First baseman Derek Peterson leads the Owls with two home runs and 20 RBIs this season and is second on the team in runs scored with 18 behind senior Jordan Queja, who has 19 runs on the year along with 19 walks, which also leads the team.

George Washington is 8-16 overall and 3-0 in conference play on the season after winning four out of their last five games, including last weekend's three-game sweep of Massachusetts in its opening A-10 weekend series..  The Colonials held UMass to no more than one run in each of the games the past weekend including one shutout in the series finale.

George Washington has three starters that have all recorded 2-3 records in seven appearances this season.  Junior Aaron Weisberg leads the team with the lowest ERA among starters with a 2.87.  Weisberg and teammate Luke Staub have both thrown one complete game on the year.  The junior is the team's leader in strikeouts recording 28 so far this season.

On the offensive side of the ball, GW has struggled from the plate.  They do not have one starter hitting over .300 this season as senior Ryan Hickey leads the team with a .261 batting average in 23 games this season.  Only senior Tyler McCarthy has hit a homerun among the eight starters appearing in 20 games or more.

Coming off the bench is freshman Matthieu Robert who has started 13 games hitting a .297 batting average recording two homeruns and five RBIs.  The freshman has found more playing time as the season has moved on and is looking to solidify himself as the team's every day starting catcher.

Sophomore Eric Peterson will be on the mound for Temple on Saturday.  The right-hander leads the team in wins with 2 as he has recorded a 2.96 ERA on the year.  Peterson (2-0) is coming off back to back strong starts where he has pitched into the seventh inning against Penn State and Saint Joseph's.
The starter for the series finale is to be announced for the Owls.

Temple will look to bounce back after losing their first conference series, 1-2, against conference rival Saint Joseph's.  The first pitch against George Washington is scheduled for Friday at 3:00 p.m.
