PHILADELPHIA - Three California teams await Temple lacrosse on the Owls' upcoming Spring Break trip out west, including #18 Stanford. Temple is undefeated so far with a record of 4-0, but will play its first ranked team in its fifth game. The Owls will play at Stanford (2-2) at 4:00 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, March 10.
There will be a free webcast available to all viewers for the Stanford game. Follow the links above to access the webcast as well as gametracker for the contest.
While in California, the Owls will also play at USC on March 13 and at San Diego State on March 16. Temple will be just the ninth team to ever face USC, a program that is in its inaugural season.
“Our trip to California is definitely something we are excited about," said Temple head coach Bonnie Rosen. "The last time we took a trip there for Spring Break, we won an A-10 championship later that year. It is an opportunity to prove ourselves nationally against teams with pretty competitive schedules.”
Over four games, Temple has out-scored its opponents 55-31 to remain undefeated. Most recently, the Owls broke open a 12-12 tie on their way to a 15-12 win vs. Lafayette on March 2. All four games have been at home, and Stanford will mark the first road game of the year. Senior Kellee Pace leads the team with nine goals, and an impressive 15 players have scored so far this season. Freshman Rachel Schwaab and senior Charlotte Swavola have scored eight goals apiece. Junior Jaymie Tabor has seven goals, and senior Stephany Parcell is tied with Swavola for the lead in points, having added a team-best four assists to her six goals.
Senior Meghan Clothier has played the majority of time in goal for Temple, but redshirt freshman Jaqi Kakalecik has seen valuable time and had a big impact in the Lafayette win.
Temple will be meeting all three California teams for the first time in program history.
