4.1.13 | Women's Rowing

Philadelphia- Temple Women's Rowing co-captain Paige O' Sullivan has been honored as the 2013 John Noisette Award recipient.

Temple University faculty nominates one student each year based on their leadership and innovation in the therapeutic recreation field. This year, O'Sullivan was nominated and selected by the John Noisette Memorial Committee.

The award honors former Temple therapeutic recreation professor, John Noisette, who was founder of the Rollin' Owls, Temple's wheelchair basketball team. The award honors upper level students or alumni of the Theraputic Recreations. Winners are added to the plaque in the therapeutic recreation Departments main office suite.

O'Sullivan, a graduating senior, works with The Magee Rehabs wheelchair sports program, the annual Beast of the East Quad Rugby event. She has built a relationship with the Therapeutic recreation program and Rec 4 Life, a student-run recreation therapy organization. Her involvement with Rec 4 Life led to a demonstration,  organized by O'Sullivan, with the Magee rugby and basketball athletes during Temple University's first annual Adapted Recreation Day.

“Paige has been instrumental in organizing community service opportunities for the women's rowing team this year,” said women's rowing head coach Rebecca Grzybowski.  “Her energy and spirit are contagious and it's easy to see that she is passionate about her chosen career path and excited about the ability to positively impact adaptive sports.  This is a very well-deserved award and we're proud of her.”

O'Sullivan will be in Jacksonville, Florida this summer working with Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital as a senior intern.
