Pickett Continues Owls Success At Penn Relays With Triple Jump Title

PHILADELPHIA - On the final day of collegiate competition at the 119th Penn Relays, junior Gabe Pickett became the third Temple athlete to win an event title in the three-day meet at University of Pennsylvania's track at Franklin Field. Pickett landed a mark of 15.06 meters in the triple jump to claim first place in the event. His mark was 0.51 meters longer than second place finisher Dannie Holland from Suffolk Communuty College. Pickett also placed ahead of teammate Derek Holland, who placed sixth with a mak of 14.13 meters.
The Owls were also represented in the hammer throw, where Justin Berg placed 22nd with a throw mark of 47.75 meters.
Temple wrapped up the day with a seventh place finish in the 4x400 IC4A meter relay, as Alan Harding, Carlton Stafford, Damian Myers and LIonel Wilson rushed for a time of 3:13.03 in the event in which they won on Friday.
From here, the Owls will now begin preparing for next weekend's Atlantic 10 Conference Championships being held at UNC Charlotte.
