Pickett Named A-10 Performer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – On the final outdoor track and field weekly awards release issued by the Atlantic 10 Conference, junior Gabe Pickett has been named the league's Performer of the Week. The Vestal, N.Y. native landed a mark of 15.06 meters in the triple jump to claim first place in the event held at the 119h Penn Relays.
Pickett, the 2012 A-10 Triple Jump Champion, set a mark that was 0.51 meters longer than second place finisher Suffolk Community College's Dannie Holland. The three-year jumper also placed ahead of teammate Derek Holland, who nabbed sixth with a mark of 14.13 meters.
Pickett will look to defend his A-10 title in the triple jump this weekend, as the Owls head to Charlotte for the A-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
