Former T&F Performer Travis Mahoney Qualifies For USA Track & Field Steeplechase Final

DES MOINES, IOWA – Former Temple University track and field performer and 2012 NCAA Steeplechase All-American Travis Mahoney advanced to the final of the 3000 meter Steeplechase at the USA Track and Field Championships held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Mahoney's time of 8:38.67 placed the Old Bridge, N.J. native sixth overall. By virtue of placing in the top five of his heat, Mahoney qualifies for Sunday's 3000 meter Steeplechase final, which will go off at 4:55 p.m. ET.
Over a five-year running career at Temple, which stemmed from 2008-2012, Mahoney won seven Atlantic 10 Conference individual championships, three A-10 Outstanding Performer of the Year awards, a Mid-Atlantic Athlete of the Year recognition and three NCAA All-American titles.
