Cross Country Completes First Race of the Season at Lehigh Invitational
8.31.13 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Temple men's and women's cross country teams saw their first action of the season at the Lehigh Invitational on Saturday morning. The women finished eighth of 13 teams while the men placed 11th of 14 teams, but the teams had goals for the day that were accomplished.
"I was really pleased with how the ladies and the men ran today," said assistant coach James Snyder, who coaches the distance runners for Temple. "We used it as a workout opportunity, and our big goal was to run in groups, pack up and work together. We had four guys come in within five or six seconds of one another so that was wonderful. On the women's side there were also a couple of packs. They executed our plan to perfection. It was a good day and a good workout, and we are excited moving forward."
Temple's top finisher on either side was senior Anna Pavone, who placed 22nd in the women's race in a time of 23:57.74. Two of her teammates were close behind, with junior Jenna Dubrow coming in 33rd in 24:33.21, and sophomore Janie Augustyn placing 38th in 24:52.44.
Will Kellar, William Maltin and Owen Glatts were the top men's finishers, coming in together at 82nd, 83rd and 84th, respectively.
