Men's Golf Places Fifth at Hartford Hawk Invitational

SOUTH KENT, CT - Sophomore Brandon Matthews carded a five-under par 67 to tie for second overall and help Temple men's golf place fifth among the 17 teams competing at the Hartford Hawk Invitational Tuesday.
Matthews shot a four-under 212 at the par 72 Bull's Bridge Golf Club, placing five strokes back of Evan Russell (207) from host Hartford. Rutgers won the event with a four-over 868 for the 72-holes. Hartford was second (877), followed by UConn (890), Loyola-Maryland (896) and Temple (898).
Junior Matt Teesdale was second for the Owls and tied for 14th overall among the 96 golfers with a seven-over 223. Senior Matt Crescenzo finished tied for 27th with a 227. Juniors Mike Amole (236) and Alec Kissell (243) rounded out the Cherry and White five in 56th and 75th place. Temple freshman Evan Galbreath, competing as an individual, was tied for 34th with a 230.
The Owls next compete at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Raleigh, NC on October 7-8.
