Men's Tennis Splits a Pair of Matches in the Penn Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's tennis team played twice on Friday, September 27, in the Penn Invitational, a flighted tournament hosted by the Quakers this weekend. The Owls took on Buffalo Friday morning before playing Lehigh Friday afternoon. Both matches were played at TU Pavilion.
TU dropped the match to Buffalo, 5-2, before picking up a 4-2 win over Lehigh.
Against the Bulls, Nicolas Paulus and Sam Rundle were the victors for the Owls. Paulus defeated Sergio Arevalillo, 6-3, 6-4, at the third flight. Rundle picked up a 6-3, 6-3, decision against Akhil Mehta at number five.
Against the Mountain Hawks, the Cherry & White were victorious at the first, third, fifth and sixth flights. Paulus and Rundle were double winners on the day. Paulus held on for a 6-5(4), 3-6, 10-6 win over Mitchell Petersen at No. 3 and Rundle was a straight-set winner over Ethan Bogard at the fifth flight, 6-2, 6-2. Santiago Canete defeated Ben Gilman, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 and Vineet Naran rounded out the TU winners with a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Colin Nardella at No. 6.
The squad faces Delaware on Saturday.
