Women's Gymnastics Drops Second Meet to Anchorage Alaska by Two Points

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA –
Temple women's gymnastics was defeated by University of Anchorage Alaska on Sunday night at Wells Fargo Sports Complex by two points, suffering a second defeat to them after losing by less than one point on Friday night.  UAA finished with a score of 190.150, while Temple garnered a score of 188.10.

Temple earned higher scores in one event, beam with a score of 47.575.  Alexis Arena earned an excellent score of 9.725, the highest score of any event in the dual meet.  Jean Alban and Briana Odom also earned scores of 9.525 to lead the way in beam.

Jasmine Johnson and Arena earned top scores at the vault for the Owls with 9.625 each.  Temple finished with a vault score of 47.575.

On bars, Reagan Oliver tied for the highest score on the event with a 9.600.  Alban and Heather Zaniewski tied for the second best scores for Temple with 9.125.

The Owls earned a floor score of 46.725.  Brianna Ferdinandi performed a routine that earned her a 9.600.  Alban was right behind her with a 9.500.

Temple will train all this week for a home meet next Saturday, as they will host the Ken Anderson Memorial Invite.  Penn, Ursinus, West Chester, and Cornell be part of the invitational at McGonigle Hall that starts at 1:00 p.m. 2/1/2014 Ken Anderson Memorial Invite (with UPenn, Ursinus, West Chester and Cornell) 1:00 p.m.
