Women's Soccer Returns Home this Week to Take on UCF and USF

PHILADELPHIA – The Owls return to action tomorrow as they start their two-game home stand this week in Ambler, Pa. Temple will take on UCF Thursday for a 3:00 p.m. game at Ambler Sports Complex. Temple will close out the weekend when they take on USF Sunday. The game is schedule for a 1:00 p.m. start at Ambler Sports Complex.
Temple now sits at 10-4-1 and 3-2-1 in the conference after earning three conference points last weekend. The Owls currently stand in 3rd place in the conference with ten conference points. UCF (12-2-0; 5-0-0 15pts) and Memphis (6-5-4; 3-1-2 11pts) hold the 1st and 2nd place in the conference respectively.Â

•Temple is 10-4-1 with a 3-2-1 conference record for the 2014 season. The Owls just came off a two-game road trip in Texas visiting SMU on Thursday, and Houston on Sunday.
•Temple is now the third team in program history with double digit wins in a season. The women's soccer program has only had double digit wins in a season twice. Those seasons were the 1991 inaugural season when they went 11-7-0 under head coach Elleen Richart and the 2000 season when they stood at 11-9-0 under head coach Seamus McWilliams.
•Temple women's soccer entered the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Northeast Regional Poll at No. 6 on Tuesday.
•Temple women's soccer defeated Houston 1-0 Sunday afternoon. Kayla Cunningham scored the lone goal assisted by Shannon Senour.
•Temple women's soccer lost to SMU 1-0 Thursday afternoon despite outshooting the Mustangs 15 to 4.Â
•Kelly Farrell leads the Owls in points with 16. Farrell also leads the Owls in goals with 7. Farrell also has 2 assists and owns a .640 shots on goal percentage.
•Kayla Cunningham is 2nd in points with 9. Cunningham leads the Owls in shots on goal with 19 and shots with 39. Cunningham also has 1 assist.
•Starting goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff posted her 5th shutout of the season Sunday, at Houston. Kerkhoff boosts a .91 goals against average, .811 save percentage along with recording 60 saves on the season. Kerkhoff is first all-time in save percentage (.820), goals against average (1.08),?and shutouts (16). Kerkhoff also ranks 5th all-time in saves with 218.
•Temple women's soccer defeated Cornell 2-1 in double overtime on 9/14/14 to win the Cornell Classic. The Owls improved their winning streak to seven games, and broke the record for the longest winning streak in program history and set the bar for the best start in program history.
•UCF comes in with a record of 12-2-0. Last week, the Knights went 1-0-0. UCF won at USF Friday 3-0.
• The Owls hold a 0-2-0 all-time record against the Knights. The teams' last matchup was on Oct. 6, 2013 at UCF, which resulted in a 3-1 victory for UCF.
