Women's Soccer Hosts UConn for Senior Day Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – The Owls will return home this Sunday, Oct. 26th against UConn for Senior Day. The game will honor the lone senior Alyssa Kirk and is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start at Ambler Sports Complex in Ambler, Pa.
Temple women's soccer won 1-0 at Delaware St. Wednesday night. The Owls improve to 11-6-1 and 3-4-1 in the conference while the Hornets drop to 3-10-1.

•Temple is 11-6-1 with a 3-4-1 conference record for the 2014 season. The Owls just came off a 1-0 road victory over Delaware St. Wednesday night.
•Temple is now tied for the most wins in program history with eleven wins in a season. The women's soccer program has only had two teams with eleven wins in a season. Those seasons were the 1991 inaugural season when they went 11-7-0 under head coach Elleen Richart and the 2000 season when they stood at 11-9-0 under head coach Seamus McWilliams.
•Today we honor Alyssa Kirk on senior day. Today marks Alyssa's 73rd game, which places her 6th all-time in games played in Temple women's soccer history. Kirk is currently tied for 2nd in team points with 9. Alyssa has 3 goals and 3 assists and a team-leading .375 shot percentage; which are impressive numbers considering her defensive position.
•Kelly Farrell leads the Owls in points with 18. Farrell also leads the Owls in goals (8), shots on goal (21), and shots on goal percentage (.636). Farrell also has 2 assists on the season
•Kayla Cunningham is tied for 2nd in points with 9. Cunningham leads the Owls in shots with 48. Cunningham also has 4 goals and1 assist on the season.
•Starting goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff currently boosts a .98 goals against average, .798 save percentage, 6 shutouts, along with recording 71 saves on the season. Kerkhoff is first all-time in save percentage (.815), goals against average (1.10),?and shutouts (17). Kerkhoff also ranks 5th all-time in saves with 229.
•Temple women's soccer defeated Cornell 2-1 in double overtime on 9/14/14 to win the Cornell Classic. The Owls improved their winning streak to seven games, and broke the record for the longest winning streak in program history and set the bar for the best start in program history.
•Uconn comes in with a record of 10-4-4. Last week, the Huskies went 1-1.UConn lost 2-0 vs. USF on Thursday and won 1-0 vs. #18 UCF on Sunday for senior day.
• The Owls hold a 0-1-0 all-time record against the Huskies. The teams' last matchup was on Oct. 11, 2013 at UConn, which resulted in a 3-1 victory for the Huskies.
