Men's Tennis Competes in Three Matches at Lehigh Invitational This Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Temple men's tennis team was back in action this weekend at the Lehigh Invitational which was held on the campus of Lehigh University. The Owls competed against the host-team Lehigh on Saturday Oct. 4 and concluded play against Steven's Institute of Technology and Monmouth on Sunday.
On the first day of competition, inclement weather forced Temple to take on Lehigh indoors. In doubles action, both pairs of Vineet Naran and Maros Januvka (8-6) and Santiago Canete and Filip Stipcic (8-5) were victorious. Juniors Nicolas Paulus and Januvka won their matches in singles play with the scores of 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-2, respectively.
Temple began play on Sunday indoors against Steven's Tech. Naran and Januvka won their doubles match with a score of 8-5. The Owls won five of the seven singles matches played against Steven's Tech. Belkssir won his match 6-0, 6-2 and Naran came out on top with a score of 6-2, 7-5. Canete (6-0, 6-2), Ong (6-3, 6-2), and Januvka (6-1, 6-2) were the victors in their matches.
The Owls took on Monmouth in their last match of the weekend. Both doubles matches were won for TU by Belkssir and Paulus (8-7) and Stipcic and Canete (8-7). Temple won five of the six singles matches against Monmouth. Paulus won his match 3-6, 7-6, 10-7 and Belkssir won with a score of 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Canete (6-0, 6-1) and Naran (6-4, 6-4) both won their singles matches, along with Januvka by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Temple will finish out their fall season at the ITA Regional Championship October 16-20.
