PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Temple volleyball sophomore Kirsten Overton was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for her play November 3-9. This is the second weekly honor roll nod for Overton. Owls setter Sandra Sydlik also nabbed a weekly honor, being named the American Offensive Player of the Week.Â
Overton led Temple volleyball to a 2-0 week, including wins over USF and league-leading UCF. The sophomore hit .359 with 19 kills and eight blocks as the Owls won their eighth-straight match. Against USF on Friday, Overton had 10 kills and three blocks, hitting .471 in the sweep. On Sunday, the middle recorded nine kills and a team-best five blocks, as Temple snapped UCF's 13-match winning streak.Â
Temple is now 20-6 overall with a second-place mark of 11-3 in the American. Overton and company have allowed the Owls to reach the 20-win mark for the first time since 2005. The Owls are back in action on Wednesday, when UConn comes to town for a 7:00 p.m. conference match. Temple will look to avenge an earlier loss to the Huskies.Â
