Women's Gymnastics Places Third in Meet at Rugters

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Temple women's gymnastics placed third in a meet on Saturday night at Rutgers in Livingston Recreation Center with a score of 191.95. Penn State was first with a score of 195.825, Rutgers second (194.575), and Ursinus (184.825) was fourth.
The Owls started the meet on bars, earning a score of 47.325. Heather Zaniewski had the best score for the Owls with a 9.725 while Reagan Oliveri was right behind her with a 9.7. Brittanie DeMeno was third in the event with a 9.575.
Up next for Temple was beam, where they scored a 47.925. Sylvie Borschel performed a routine that earned her a 9.75, the top score for Temple. Rebecca McAndrew earned a 9.7 to help lead the Owls in beam.
Temple earned a score of 48.625 on floor for their third event, their highest score of the four events. The five gymnasts counting towards the team score all got above a 9.67. Jasmine Johnson once again performed an exciting routine that led the Owls with a 9.8. Oliveri got the second highest score with a 9.75. Brianna Ferdinandi and Lauren Capone earned 9.7, and Briana Odom rounded out the event with a 9.675.
The Owls finished the meet at vault with a score of 48.075. All five gymnasts finished above scores of 9.55. Brittanie DeMeno was tops with a 9.675.
Temple will face Ursinus College once again next week on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Owls have defeated Ursinus twice this season, with the first time occurring at the Ken Anderson Memorial Invite.
