Women's Gymnastics Sets Season High in Victory at Ursinus

COLLEGVILLE, Pa. – Temple women's gymnastics set a season high score of 192.325 to win at Ursinus. Ursinus finished with a score of 187.425.
Temple had scores over 48 in three of the four events, with the highest coming on the balance beam. Temple had the four highest scores for the event. Jean Alban (9.725), Sylvie Borschel (9.775), and Rebecca McAndrew (9.7) all scored at or above 9.7 to lead the Owls to a team score of 48.3 on beam.
The second best scoring event for the Owls came on bars (48.25). Heather Zaniewski (9.75) and Alban (9.7) had the two best scores on bars of the two teams. All six gymnasts scored above a 9.5 on the event.
Brittanie DeMeno and Jasmine Johnson both scored 9.7 on the vault to lead Temple to an event score of 48.1. Lauren Capone (9.6) and Briana Odom (9.625) both scored above 9.6 in the event.
Temple earned a score of 47.675 on floor. Capone (9.75) and Brianna Ferdinandi (9.675) led the way on floor.
DeMeno finished with the top all-around score of 38.15. Â Odom was third with a score of 38.025.
Temple had the two highest scores on each event for the dual meet. Temple has defeated Ursinus for the third time this season.
The Owls will return to action next Saturday at 7:00 p.m., traveling to Eastern Michigan with Northern Illinois and Air Force also scheduled to participate.
