PHILADELPHIA – After opening the 2014 season with a 2-3 record at the TSU Tiger Classic in Memphis, Tenn., last weekend, the Temple softball team will remain in the south, heading to Florida for a pair of tournaments from Feb. 28-Mar. 8. The Owls play in the USF Under Armour Invitational Feb. 28-Mar. 2 in Clearwater, before heading to Winter Haven, to take part in the Rebel Spring Games, Mar. 4-8.
The Cherry & White open the upcoming weekend with games against Florida Atlantic and Kennesaw State at 4:30 and 6:45 p.m., respectively, on Friday, Feb. 28. FAU enters the tournament with a 7-7 record, having hosted three tournaments so far this season. KSU carries a 6-5 record into the invitational, which includes a 4-3 extra-inning win over one of Temple's new conference opponents, Memphis.
On Saturday, the Owls square off against Loyola Marymount (4-6) at 11:45 a.m., before taking on Central Arkansas (6-11) at 4:30 p.m. TU wraps up play at the Eddie C. Moore Complex with a 9 a.m. game against Mount St. Mary's (3-1), the only opponent entering the tournament with fewer games' experience than Temple in 2014.
