NEW YORK - Junior Kiersten LaRoche earned points for Temple women's track and field on day one of the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships with her sixth-place finish in the pentathlon. LaRoche's 3,579 points are an ECAC qualifying standard. Â There is plenty of action left for day two of the championships, including the majority of finals in the running events.
The Owls had a strong showing in the long jump, with two athletes just narrowly missing scoring for Temple. Freshman Jimmia McCluskey was close to a season-best with her jump of 5.80m, placing ninth. LaRoche was close behind in 10th place with her jump of 5.75m, and sophomore Imani Shell recorded a personal-best mark of 5.60m to finish 14th.
Junior Hollis Coleman ran a personal-best time of 57.31 in the prelims of the 400m to place 17th.
