Men's Tennis Earns 6-1 Victory At Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. - The Temple men's tennis team won five of six singles matches, and two of three doubles bouts, on the way to a 6-1 victory at Hampton on Saturday, March 1. The Owls improve to 2-8 overall while the Pirates fall to 2-5.
TU quickly took a 1-0 lead with a win at the doubles point. Hicham Belkssir and Nicolas Paulus teamed up defeat their opponents at the second flight, 8-1. Vineet Naran and Hernan Vasconez secured the point with an 8-2 decision at No. 3.
In singles action, the Owls won at all but the fourth flight, earning straight set victories in all of them. Santiago Canete was particularly impressive with his shutout win at the sixth flight, blanking Gary Faulcon, 6-0, 6-0.
Temple takes on Maryland-Eastern Shore in a 1 p.m. match on Sunday, March 2.
