CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Temple softball team dropped two more games on Saturday, March 1, at the USF Under Armour Invitational, falling to Loyola Marymount, 2-1, before losing to Central Arkansas, 11-3.

Against LMU, the Owls were in an early hole when the Lions scored once in the bottom of the first. That score would remain through five and a half innings before Loyola Marymount scored once more in the sixth to build a 2-0 advantage.

The Owls finally got on the board in the top of the seventh when Leah Lucas hit a two-out solo homer, but LMU hurler Sydney Gouveia got a strikeout to end the threat and the game.

Gouveia was impressive in the win, going the distance and allowing just two hits, walking three and striking out 12. Kelsey Dominik (1-3) took the loss, allowing seven hits, walking one and fanning one.

Lucas (1-for-3) and Lacey McKeon (1-for-3) collected TU's only hits.

Central Arkansas scored in bunches through the first four innings of the second game, building a 9-1 lead through four. The Owls got as close as 9-3 with a two-run fifth innings, thanks to a two-run homerun from Julia Kastner, but that was all the scoring TU would do.

The Bears added one run in the fifth and another in the sixth to create the eight-run difference and end the game early.

Kylee Studioso (4-3) was the winner on the mound, going 6.0 innings and giving up four hits and three runs, only one earned, while walking one and fanning nine. Brooklin White (0-2) took the loss in 3.0 innings of work, allowing six hits, five runs, walking one and striking out three.

TU (2-7) closes out play at the tournament with a 9 a.m. game against Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, March 2.
