PHILADELPHIA - Continuing its strong community service efforts this off-season, the Temple volleyball team spent the evening of March 12 at Northern Children's Services in Wissahickon, where the Owls worked with young boys and girls individually.
Kevin Weber, the Director of Recreation/Volunteer Services for Northern Children's Services, is a Temple alum. Members of the team were paired up with boys and girls to help with homework or with other fun, educational activities such as volleyball word searches, Q&A's and some math problems.
For about an hour, everyone worked with their kids to make sure that they were completing their packets. The experience allowed the student-athletes to build a stronger relationship within the community around Temple. At the end of the night, each one of the kids gave the student-athletes big hugs and thanked them for coming out and participating with them.
