Owls Pass Early Season Test

3.22.14 | Men's Crew

Philadelphia- Temple Men's Crew hit the water this morning for a scrimmage against Rutgers University. The Owls hosted the Scarlett Knights on the Schuylkill River and participated in a series of 1000 meter races. Temple raced three varsity 8 boats in twelve events.

The Owls first varsity 8 went undefeated on the water during head to head competition. The boat was comprised of Dante Romeo (coxswain), Tom Robbins (seat-8), Charles Anderson (seat-7), Brian Reifsnyder (seat-6), Dan Sipzner (seat-5), Fergal Barry (seat-4), Evan Hammond (seat-3), Joshua Kuzo (seat-2), and Ryan Dartnell (bow).

With Truman Levine at the coxswain position, the second varsity 8 boat was comprised of Connor Murphy (seat-8), Pat Woodruff (seat-7), Bryan Berry (seat-6), Gary Wielgus (seat-5), Zephyr Dippel (seat-4), Stephen Lindeman (seat-3), Hunter Devine (seat-2) and Mario DiCarlo (bow). This boat won three of its four races against the Scarlett Knights.

Following in the strokes of the second varsity 8. The third varsity 8 boat went 3-1 during the scrimmage. The boat was comprised of Kyle Powell (coxswain), Vittorio Dipentino (seat-8), Dylon McCreavy (seat-7), T.J. Kuhar (seat-6), Joe Calendo (seat-5), Nick Matousch (seat-4), Nikolas Dula (seat-3), Rich Ridgway (seat-2) and Robert Byrne (bow)

The Owls first regatta of the season, the Murphy Cup, will be March 29th on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey. Check Owlsports.com for the official schedule.
