Host Temple Women's Gymnastics Places Third in ECAC Championships

PHILADELPHIA – Host school Temple women's gymnastics placed third in the ECAC Championships Saturday afternoon in McGonigle Hall with a score of 191.775.  William and Mary and Brown tied for first with 193.6, marking the first tie for first place ever in ECAC Women's Gymnastics history.  Cornell finished second with 192.35, while Penn was fourth (191.275) and Yale fifth (189.85).

Temple's best event for the meet was floor, having the best score of the six teams with a 48.325.  Jasmine Johnson won the floor title with a routine garnering a score of 9.775.  Lauren Capone earned third with a 9.725.

The Owls earned a 47.875 on vault.  Brittanie DeMeno tied for the seventh best score of the meet with a 9.7, the best of any Temple gymnast.  Briana Odom tied for the 10th best score with a 9.675.

Temple's second best event came on the uneven bars (47.925).  Heather Zaniewski once again led Temple in the event with a score of 9.725.
On balance beam the Owls had a team score of 47.65.  Briana Odom had the top score for Temple with a 9.675.

Odom was the only all-around performer for Temple and finished eighth with 38.475.

Up next for Temple will be the USAG Nationals at Brown.  The three day meet will start on Friday, April 11.
