Two Strong Relay Finishes Highlight Final Day of Carolina Relays for Women's Track & Field

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Two strong relay finishes and two personal bests were the highlight of day two of the Carolina Relays for Temple women's track & field. The Owls earned a total of six top-five finishes on Saturday, and the 4x100m relay team earned an ECAC qualifying time.
In the final event of the day, the 4x400m relay, the Owls' "A" team of juniors Hollis Coleman, Kaitlyn McSurdy and Michelle Davis Timothy along with sophomore Demeshia Davis, took second place with a time of 3:54.17. It capped a strong day for all four runners, who fared well in their individual events, and particularly for Davis who also competed on Temple's "A" team in the 4x100m relay.
That 4x100m relay team placed third in an ECAC-qualifying time of 47.89, comprised of freshmen Bionca St. Fleur and Jimmia McCluskey along with sophomores Courtney Mitchell and Davis.
Coleman placed third in 400m, just four-one hundredths off her personal-best time, coming in at 57.35. Davis did record a personal best in the 400m, bettering her old time by a full second and placing fourth in 57.44.
Sophomore Jamila Janneh took third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.19m, and junior Kaitlyn McSurdy earned a fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.66.
In the 100m hurdles, freshman Simone Brownlee finished 10th in 15.05. Right with her was junior Kiersten LaRoche who came in 11th with a personal-best time of 15.08.
McCluskey was ninth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.4, and Davis Timothy placed ninth in the 800m in 2:22.12.Â
