AMBLER, Pa. - The Temple softball team got on the field at Temple Softball Stadium for the first time this season on Saturday morning, but it was a shortlived outing as the rain moved in and halted the first game of a scheduled doubleheader with visiting UCF. The Owls were down 3-0 in the top of the first with two outs and a runner on second when the game was delayed.
The coaches, facilities crew and administrators will assess the forecast and plan to make a decision later today as to whether the game can be resumed Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
TU started the game strong, getting two quick groundouts on the first two batters. But the Knights rallied with back-to-back singles, followed by a three-run homerun over the right field fence by Samantha McCloskey, to take a 3-0 lead. The next batter, Brittany Solis, doubled down the left field line and Temple pitcher Kelsey Dominik threw one ball to Jessica Ujvari before the 22-minute rain delay began.
