Game Notes

PHILADELPHIA
 – After playing two non-conference games mid-week, the Temple softball team heads to Louisville for three American Athletic Conference games this weekend. The Owls (15-22, 5-7 AAC) travel to Ulmer Stadium for a doubleheader with the Cardinals (28-18, 9-6 AAC) beginning at noon on Saturday, April 26, before finishing the series with a single game on Sunday, April 27, at 12 p.m.

The Owls, sitting in fifth place in the league standings, take on the third-place Louisville squad with the hopes of improving their conference tournament seeding position. After this weekend's games, just one weekend of conference play remains.

This will be just the second meeting between TU and Louisville in the history of the program. The Cherry & White faced the then 15th ranked Cardinals on March 1 of last year at the Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla., falling 8-0.

Senior Sarah Prezioso has led the squad for most of the season, hitting .385 (45-for-117) and topping the team in nearly every other offensive category. She has team-bests in hits (45), runs (32), RBI (22), stolen bases (16), homeruns (8) and doubles (8). The team-captain's .709 slugging percentage leads the league and is the 48th-best in the country.

Sophomore Kelsey Dominik and freshman Amanda Gatt continue to do the majority of the work in the circle. Dominik has posted an 9-9 record with a 2.68 ERA, the eighth-best in the league. She has tossed a team-high 117.1 innings in 19 appearances, recording 16 complete games and three shutouts. Gatt (4-4) has a 3.71 ERA in 56.2 innings of work with 13 appearances and four complete games.

Louisville enters the weekend games with losses in its last three contests. Before that, the Cardinals had put together an eight-game win streak. The Cards are led offensively by senior second baseman Katie Keller who is batting .393 with 39 runs and 24 RBIs. Junior Kelsi Jones has belted out a team-best eight homeruns and has produced 30 RBIs on the season.

On the mound, freshman Maryssa Becker (12-5) has a 1.98 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 120.1 innings while holding opponents to a .216 batting average.
