Softball Trip to Louisville Capped With 11-3 Loss on Sunday

The Owls jumped out to a 3-0 lead after their first at bats thanks to a three-run homer from Kelsey Dominik. Sarah Prezioso and Kaylyn Zierke each had infield singles to put runners on the corners before Dominik stepped in and hit a full-count pitch over the centerfield fence.
Louisville got one back in the bottom of the inning when Brittany Duncan hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Kelsi Jones. Jones had doubled to leadoff the frame and moved to third on a groundout.
That score would stand until the bottom of the fourth inning. The potent offense of Louisville would no longer be stifled, and the Cards went on to score five runs in the frame, two in the fifth and ended it with a three-run sixth.
Prezioso (2-for-3) and Brooklin White (2-for-2) combined for four of TU's seven hits in the contest. Six of those came against Caralisa Connell (9-5) who went 4.0 innings, walking one and striking out four. Maryssa Becker came in for the save, going 2.0 innings and allowing one hit while fanning four.
Jessica Mahoney (2-8) took the loss, tossing 4.1 innings with eight hits, two walks and one strikeout.
Temple returns home for the remainder of the regular season with a jam-packed week. The Cherry & White host local squads La Salle (4/29) and Drexel (4/30) for a pair of doubleheaders, before welcoming Monmouth on Thursday, May 1, for a single game. The Owls then close out the ledger with a pair of games on both Saturday and Sunday with visiting USF.
