Game Notes

PHILADELPHIA
– After having five mid-week games rained out this week, the Temple softball team is set to host American Athletic Conference foe USF for four games this weekend to close out the home portion of the schedule. TU and the Bulls will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 12 p.m., before playing two more games on Sunday, May 4, beginning at noon.

After the conclusion of Saturday's games, six Temple seniors will be honored for their contributions to the team over the last four years. On Sunday, the 2004 Temple softball team will be honored between games. This year marks the 10th anniversary of that squad winning the Atlantic 10 title and advancing to NCAA tournament, both firsts for the program and something no other team has accomplished since.

The Owls enter this weekend's games with a 15-25 overall record and a 5-10 mark in The American Athletic Conference. This marks just the second time all season that TU?is able to play at home. USF carries a 36-14 overall mark and a 10-5 conference record into the games. Only the first three games of the series will count toward the league standings.

The Cherry & White are currently in sixth place in the eight-team conference. The Bulls come to Ambler with the third place spot. If these seeds hold through the weekend, Temple and USF will be squaring off again on Thursday, May 8, in the opening round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament in Houston, Texas.

Senior Sarah Prezioso has led the squad for most of the season, hitting .386 (49-for-127) and topping the team in nearly every other offensive category. She has team-bests in hits (49), runs (33), RBI (22), stolen bases (17), doubles (9) and homeruns (8) . The team-captain's .693 slugging percentage leads the league and is the 75th-best in the country.

Sophomore Kelsey Dominik and freshman Amanda Gatt continue to do the majority of the work in the circle. Dominik has posted an 9-10 record with a 3.05 ERA, the ninth-best in the league. She has tossed a team-high 119.1 innings in 20 appearances, recording 16 complete games and three shutouts. Gatt (4-5) has a 3.91 ERA in 62.2 innings of work with 14 appearances and five complete games.
