Women's Track & Field Wraps Up Competition at American Championships

TAMPA, Fla. - With a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, Temple's women's track & field team wrapped up three days of competition at the American Athletic Conference Championships. The 4x400m team ran a season-best time of 3:41.60 to win their heat and place fifth overall.
The relay team was comprised of Hollis Coleman, Demeshia Davis, Kenya Gaston and Michelle Davis Timothy. Davis also teamed up with Jimmia McCluskey, Courtney Mitchell and Bionca St. Fleur for a seventh-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay.
In the finals of the 1500 meter run, Anna Pavone was less than one second off her personal best with a time of 4:37.85 to place ninth.
Jamila Janneh and Simone Chapman placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the triple jump. Chapman's mark of 11.43m was a personal best.
In the discus, Margo Britton finished 12th with a throw of 43.30. Britton provided the top highlight of the entire meet for the Owls when she won a conference title in the shot put with a school record throw on Saturday.
Overall, Temple placed 10th at the conference meet with a total of 23 team points.
Temple will be back in action at the ECAC Championships May 16-18 at Princeton University.
