PHILADELPHIA - Temple's head fencing coach Nikki Franke has released information and entry forms for the 35th Annual Temple Fencing Open. The two-day tournament, considered to be the largest of its kind in the nation, will be held November 1-2 in McGonigle Hall on the main Temple campus. The forms are available online by clicking the links above or by going to "Additional Links" on the top right-hand corner of the fencing homepage.
The Temple Open is an individual tournament for collegiate fencers that tends to draw an estimated 600 athletes from over 30 schools. In addition, it is used as the starting point to the season for many schools on the East Coast.
At the 2013 Temple Open, the Owls' Tiki Kastor, now a senior on the team, successfully defended her gold medal in sabre. Temple had a total of six fencers place in the top eight among the three weapons, including Kastor and recent graduate Chantal Montrose who placed third in epee.
