Alex Izewski's Top 10 Finish Leads Men's Cross Country at Covered Bridge Open

BOONE, N.C. -Â Junior Alex Izewski led the Temple's men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish in their first action of the season at the Covered Bridge Open Friday evening. Izewski finished 10th in 21:17.67 at the meet, hosted by Appalachian State University.
"Alex had a great run today finishing in the top 10, " said coach James Snyder. "The men did an awesome job at their first race of the year competing against a lot of bigger schools from the south that we are unfamiliar with."
The next highest finisher was redshirt junior Matt Kacyon who ran a time of 21:52.35 to finish 33rd. Not far behind was junior William Maltin, junior Owen Glatts and sophomore Praneeth Gottipati finishing 53rd, 56th, and 60th respectively.Â
The Owls will spend the rest of the weekend training at ZAP fitness and participating in team bonding activities.
"Our team is really enjoying this time away and getting to know each other better. We are going to take advantage of the cool weather here in North Carolina and train on the beautiful trails the rest of the weekend together."
