Kirsten Overton Named to Weekly Honor Roll for American Athletic Conference Volleyball

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Adding to her list of honors for the past weekend, Temple volleyball sophomore Kirsten Overton has now been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. The middle blocker already earned the title of MVP at the Syracuse Invitational, and was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
Overton committed only two hitting errors in three matches, and knocked down a career-high 15 kills in Temple's five-set win at Syracuse while also hitting a career-best .652. The Owls were a perfect 3-0 for the weekend to take the team title at the tournament.
UCF sophomore Jale Hervey and UConn junior Immanuella Anagu took home The American's first volleyball Player of the Week honors of 2014, as announced by the conference office Monday.

Hervey recorded a .481 hitting percentage over four matches while notching 5.00 kills per set. The Knights went 4-0 on the weekend at the Radisson UCF Invitational, sweeping all four opponents along the way. Hervey was named tournament MVP after a pair of 17-kill performances in three-set matches on Friday and two more double-digit showings in kills on Saturday. Hervey also tallied five aces in Saturday's win over FIU.

Anagu was a force at the net in a 2-1 weekend for UConn at home in Storrs. The Huskies middle blocker posted back-to-back 10-block performances vs. Central Connecticut and Indiana on Saturday, and led all players in The American's first weekend of play with 1.85 blocks per set. Anagu was named to the UConn Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts on the weekend.

The American went 18-13 (.581) in a challenging nonconference slate in the season's first weekend, with 10 of 11 teams in action. All 11 teams will return to action on Friday.
