Men's Results
NEW BRITAIN, CONN. - Continuing his success this season, junior Matt Kacyon won the 2014 Ted Owen Invitational Saturday afternoon which was hosted by Central Connecticut State. Kacyon crossed the finish line with a first-place time of 25:50.52 out of 135 competitors, leading the men's team to a third-place finish out of 14 teams.
Kacyon's performance is the first individual first-place finish for the Owls since Travis Mahoney won the Mid-Atlantic Regional title at Penn State in 2012.Â
"The course at Stanley Quarter Park is difficult and brought the team new challenges, " said coach James Snyder. "I believe we responded extremely well to it."
Also finishing in the top-10 for the men on Saturday was juinor Alex Izewski in fourth place with a time of 26:13.43 and junior William Maltin finished 19th with a time of 27:46.86.
"When the weather cools off, racing heats up for cross country," said Snyder. "Each opportunity becomes increasingly more important for us but I think we are in a good spot. We now just have to continue with the training and believe in the process."
Temple will now look toward preparing for its next meet which will be at the Penn State National Invitational on Oct. 11 in State College, Pa.
