Kacyon Earns American Athletic Conference Cross Country Weekly Award

9.30.14 | Men's Cross Country

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Temple men's cross country's Matt Kacyon was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Sept. 30 after a first-place performance at last week's meet.

Kacyon won the Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park on Saturday, a course full of hills and varying terrains, in New Britain, Connecticut. Kacyon's first-place finish out of 135 individuals in the 8K race lead the Owls to a third place finish out of 14 teams. After asserting himself in the lead pack early, Kacyon was able to make a push over the second place runner over the final 100 meters to win the event.

Kacyon has had a successful individual season so far, finishing first for Temple in two of the three races they have competed in this fall.
