Men's Tennis Moves On At ITA Atlantic Regional Championship

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Temple men's tennis team continued to look dominate at the second day of the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by Virginia Tech.
"It was a very successful day today," said head coach Steve Mauro. "They guys played really well and I hope we can continue with the success we've had. The competition is strong but we look forward to the challenge."
In the main draw of singles, the Owls won four of their five matches to move on into the round of 64. Uladzimir Dorash defeated Old Dominion's Justin Herrea, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 while Santiago Canete took down the Monarchs' Pepe Nunez Navarro, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-2.
Artem Kapshuk continued his successful fall season by defeating George Mason's Conor Moran, a "lucky loser" from last night's qualifying draws, 6-4, 6-1. Nicolas Paulus also picked up a victory for Temple, edging out James Madison's Miljan Ruzic, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
In doubles, Temple was victorious in two of their three sets to move on into the round of 16. Dorash and Hicham Belkssir defeated City Six rival's Thomas Dodson and Jimmy Purdy of Villanova, 8-6, while Stipcic and Canete took down Delaware's Shane Jeffray and Tyler Flemmati, 8-4.
The team will continue play tomorrow, starting at 8 a.m. Brackets and results can be found here.
