Men's Crew Wins Five Races at Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta

MERCER, N.J. -- The Temple men's crew team won five races at the 2015 Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta, held on Mercer Lake in Mercer, N.J. The Owls won three varsity flights and a pair of freshman flights in their second-to-last event of the fall.
Temple's varsity eight boats swept a pair of races, recording the two fastest times of the day in the varsity eight events. The Owls "A" boat clocked in at 5:55.86 to win their flight by nearly 12 seconds, while the "B" boat recorded a 6:01.23, just under seven seconds faster than the second place boat. The varsity four "B" boat also finished first in their flight, clocking in at 6:53.86.
In freshman racing, Temple grabbed wins in both the eight and four races. The Owls' eight "B" boat had the fastest time of the day, winning their flight in a time of 6:39.46. Temple's "A" boat also raced well, finishing second (6:52.69) in their flight. In fours racing, the "B" boat won their flight in 6:57.94, the fastest time of the day, while the "A" four was second (7:16.46) to only Colgate in their flight.Â
The other Owl boats all finished fourth or higher in their flights. Temple's lightweight four raced well, taking second in their flight in 7:02.00. The JV eight took third in their race, clocking in at 6:36.95, while the varsity four "A" boat took fourth place, less than a half a second out of third in their flight.
Temple closes out its fall racing season at the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta, also on Mercer Lake.Â
